Wits End Poetry is a grass roots, 501 (c) (3) charity, whose mission is to advocate, promote, support, witness, and/or perpetuate the art of poetry. Our mission is also to promote and encourage poetry events and those who organize them, as well as to promote literacy and creativity through the use of poetry in education.

Wits End Poetry has been producing standing room only poetry shows since 2002. Our most notable events include the World Poetry Slam 2004, the Carolina Slam Tour, Her Word Festival, and Sherman College’s Spine Tingling Poetry Slam Winter 2005. Recent events and workshops include Greenville’s Artisphere festival. We have produced shows and workshops for universities, secondary schools, cities, and festivals across the Carolinas.

We are currently trying to raise money to start a poetry program for at-risk teens. We are currently in the planning state of this project with a goal of launching a pilot program in January 2006.
