October 5th, 2008 Carolina Grand Slam. This first annual tournament features poets from across North and South Carolina compete for the first prize of $500 as they wow local audiences with the heat of a high stakes, high energy poetry slam. Nationally renowned emcee Kimberly Simms will be the master of ceremonies. Judges will be randomly chosen from the audience.

October 19th, 2008 Live at Wits End Featuring Paul D. 2005 Southern Fried Individual Champion from Florida takes you on a poetic journey of the heart, that captures our everyday struggles in uplifting and poetic language. Book signing and Q&A follow event.
October 26th, 2008 Win Ur In Columbia Slam Team vs Upstate Slam Team. As part of Poetry Slam Inc. regional poetry slam competition the Upstate Slam Team and the Columbia Slam team go head to head to win their way into the National Poetry Slam 2009.

Don't miss the top poets in North America and beyond poetically battling for the title World Poetry Slam Champion. The event will be held in Charlotte, NC from December 10th to 13th. Spirit Square/Blumenthal Performing Arts Center will be the center of everything iWPS 2008. The finals will be held in the McGlohon Theatre.

| Kimberly Simms will be reading from her new chapbook "Lindy Lee: Poems on Mill Hill" at the Leopard Forest Coffee House on Main Street in Travelers Rest at 7:00pm. Kimberly Simms is the founder of Wits End Poetry, as well as a middle school ELA teacher. She has been published in many academic journals including The Asheville Poetry Review, The night will also feature a brief open mic and is sponsored by the Travelers Rest Arts Mission. |

November 2nd, 2008. Live at Wits End Featuring Jon Goode. Jon Goode has appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam plus done writing stints and made appearances for Nike, Nickelodeon and CNN's "Black in America." Journalist Dana Rosenblatt says of him, “Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Goode studied economics and finance at James Madison University in Virginia. His Southern-laced vernacular alludes to a rural upbringing. His bookish style -- starched short-sleeve button up with tie, wire-rimmed glasses and a straw boater hat -- is straight out of a Harper Lee novel.” Book signing and Q&A follow event.

November 16thth, 2008 Live at Wits End Poetry featuring Stacie Boschma of Atlanta, GA. Stacie Boschma launches her new album "Happy Rainbow Poems from the Unicorn Petting Zoo" which is an adventure in weirdness, predicated on the notion that an idea hasn’t been fully explored until it has been worked far past the point of a logical conclusion. Stacie is a published poet, performer, freelance writer, web developer, humorist, and founder of the blog Simianbrain. Book signing and Q&A follow event.
November 23rd, 2008. Live at Wits End Poetry featuring Gayle Danley. A feature story on Slam poetry was presented on the CBS show, 60 Minutes in 1999, which spotlighted her classroom work and riveting performance. Her keynote and lecture series fuses her poetry with the ability to touch her audience through real life experiences, leaving a lasting emotion al message with her audience. Book signing and Q&A follow event.
November 30th, 2008. Live at Wits End Poetry featuring Carlos Robson. Carlos Robson is a two time National Slam Champion as a member of the 2007 and 2008 Slam Charlotte Team. He is taking his experiences to the nation with his dynamic ability to blend soul shaking stories of love, loss, and redemption with his stylistic re-interpretations of spiritual hymns and children's songs.
