Poem

Stealing Daylight
I did not ask the sun to shine today,
nor did I ask it to shower me with its copious warmth.

I do not wish to borrow this sun.
For at night it will be whisked away.

I will be lonely and cold,
without the suns rays of light to blanket me.

My soul aches.
I can't keep the sun all for me.

It belongs to others.
But I will treasure each ray I see.

I did not ask the sun to rise,
nor did the sun ask me.

I steal the daylight from the night,
and bask in the splendor of my secret sunlight.
