I Want to Write About You

I want to write about you
I want to paint you with words
I want to illustrate your being
So that others will know why
I want to write about you
I want to celebrate the day
The world made way for your coming
A parade, a billboard, a dread-locked drummer
Banging out the rhythm of you
The day our spirits touched simultaneously
And I want to write about you
I want you to know how my days are spent in wonder
My nights in wanting, wanting to push pen to paper
Fingers to lips, heart to soul
In an effort to capture and write about you
Because, I want to write about you
About how I've never lost the rhythm of you
The gentle thumping, flawless movements
Flailing, flying , falling on the wind of your rhythm
The motion of you calms my spirit
The sway of you regulating my heartbeat
The heat of you bringing forth the heat in me
My pen pauses on the page, not from lack of muse
But for proper placement of adjectives
Of praise like, calming spirit,
Zest for life, earthly movement,
beautiful angel, engaging lover
Ink drops from my pen
Swirling on the page the movement
Moving me to move to write about you
I need to write about you
And as I read, I speak these words
I realize, baby
I just wrote about you
